Gulzar House fire accident: Early this morning, a fire in Charminar claiming at least 17 people, 8 of which are children, is under investigation. A short circuit beam suspected to have started the fire. Response time for the firefighters is estimated at 6:30 with 11 fire engines sent to the scene with nearby hospitals waiting for the injured.
In his comments as Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy was present in Gulzar House stating, as they were the victims of a shop would paw their residence. “I don’t need to say this is sickening for me. Inquired with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that his fully shocked to hear and added, “I will order all the available resources to make sure the cared for the most injured get the best help.”
A fire broke out in a densely populated commercial district renowned for its historic jewelry stores, situated near Charminar. The buildings in this vicinity are closely linked, leaving little space between them. Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar confirmed that the bodies have been retrieved and transported to hospitals, assuring that comprehensive information will be provided soon.
The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement expressing deep sorrow: ‘We are profoundly saddened by the loss of life resulting from the fire disaster in Hyderabad. Our condolences go out to the grieving families, and we wish a swift recovery to those injured.’ The families of those who lost their lives will receive an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF, while those injured will be compensated with ₹50,000.
Congress MP M. Anil Kumar Yadav commended the rescue teams, noticing that the fire has been contained. He described the situation as a heartbreaking incident in a bustling market, with rescue operations still ongoing. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sneha Mehra pointed out that the building had only one entrance, making the rescue efforts more challenging. To assist the firefighters, an additional access point was created.. Most victims were rendered unconscious due to smoke inhalation. The area consists of old structures with narrow pathways.’
The victims include four elderly individuals — Prahalad, Munni, Rajender Modi, and Sumitra — along with eight minors: Hamey (7), Priyansh (4), Iraaj (2), Arushi (3), Rishabh (4), Pratham (1), Anuyan (3), and Iddu (4). Additional casualties consist of Abhishek, Sheetal, Varsha, Pankaj, and Rajini. Asaduddin Owaisi, the MP from Hyderabad, remarked that the affected family had resided in the locality for generations. He expressed gratitude to those who offered assistance. The Director General of Fire Services reported that the majority of fatalities were attributed to smoke inhalation. It is imperative that we implement stringent safety measures to avert such disasters.
